Salma Arastu is a universal artist based in Berkeley, California. She is a woman, artist, and mother – and none of these by themselves. She rejects being labelled an artist of any particular category because she is artist for everyone with her goal of bringing joy and connectivity to all beings. She works to create harmony in her work and to bring the universality of humanity through her paintings, sculptures, calligraphy, and poetry. Most recently, she has been inspired by ecological themes and especially her newly found love and fascination with mycorrhizae and the importance of fungi in the regeneration of forests – and life. “Humanity would not be what it is without the hidden network of mycorrhizae and its lifegiving force.” You can find out more about her work, her philosophy, and love of Mother Earth at SalmaArastu.com.
